Timbre, Intentionality, Honesty

Description

This is a music blog. It is here that I will attempt share the very greatest music based on my three criteria, Timbre, Intentionality, and Honesty.

Timbre refers to the sound of the music, from the tones of individual instruments within the song, out to the general quality of the recording overall, the mixing and mastering, the presence of each element as a part of the whole.

Intentionality refers to the deliberation of the craftsmanship of the song. It refers to flow, the form, the journey a song takes. Complexity does not make a song better, however effective use of complex elements can; the same can be said for simplicity.

Honesty refers largely to the lyrics and vocals delivery, having to do with the singer and bands ability to convey something personal and powerful and genuine. In the absence of vocals, it refers to the bands ability to create a unified emotional state, that transcends to basic sum of its parts. Honesty, in my opinion, is what makes something art.

To me, these three aspects in harmony, are what make fantastic music, and this transfers to every single genre of music that exists. So thats what this project is about. You may disagree with me. You may not like my taste in music.
